abstract = {This paper aims to provide a conceptual layout and design as starting point for an intra-organizational general engagement platform (GEP). Accordingly, we identify concepts and functions that are required or/and that are value generating for the development of a GEP for company-internal co-creation in post-project phases. Furthermore, we discuss pros and cons in terms of a SWOT-analysis. Results may provide a basis for further empirical studies, practical development, or/and future research in this direction.},

abstract = {In today’s fast-paced business environment, firms are constantly pressured to innovate in order to remain competitive. Business model innovation (BMI) has recently attracted increasing attention as a promising approach to achieve competitive advantage in the face of fierce competition. Despite its great potential, however, BMI also entails high degrees of complexity, uncertainty and financial risk. Fueled by the rise of digital technologies, BMI has become increasingly open and collaborative in the recent past. The aim of this paper is to investigate the role and implications of open and collaborative practices in BMI and to provide a comprehensive review of available literature in this field. Therefore, a systematic review of literature at the intersection of Open Innovation (OI) and BMI has been carried out. Our analysis of the literature identified two major research streams in open business model innovation (OBMI): OBMI trends (customer-driven BMI, BM co-creation, early BM validation, virtual collaboration, design thinking) and OBMI effects. Overall, the findings support a growing trend of collaboration and co-creation in BMI supported by digital or tangible tools, and further reveal that OI has a direct positive effect on BMI success. Analysis of the literature also shows that the field of OBMI is still an under-researched area.},

abstract = {The core of the open innovation paradigm is based on the principle of collecting ideas from external sources into the organization, and bringing those adapted,transformed and enriched ideas to the market. However, under the constant pressure of being innovative, companies have to try harder to tap their customers’ knowledge and abilities. Crowdsourcing communities provide an arena for a vast amount of consumers to actively participate in innovation processes. However, as this kind of external participation in innovation processes is still in its infancy, organizations need guidance and analytic support to reveal the potential of the open innovation paradigm. Therefore,this paper analyses new product development using social crowd integration concepts and—as a result—points to further promising directions and subtopics to perform future research in this area.},

It reviews how - commencing in the late 1970s - the field started to be developed into the contemporary era where a service-dominant (S-D) logic has gained much scientific attention.
